General Cold Tub FAQs
How does cold water therapy work?
Cold water therapy, also known as cold plunging or cold immersion, involves immersing the body in cold water for a short period of time. This process can help reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and promote overall wellness.
What are the benefits of using a cold tub?
Regular use of a cold tub can help reduce muscle soreness, speed up recovery after workouts, boost circulation, reduce inflammation, and improve overall mental clarity and focus.
Are cold tubs safe for everyone?
Cold tubs can provide numerous benefits, but they are not necessarily safe for everyone. People with certain medical conditions, such as heart issues, high blood pressure, or circulation problems, should consult with a healthcare professional before using a cold tub. The sudden drop in temperature can stress the cardiovascular system, which might be dangerous for individuals with underlying health concerns.
Pregnant women, individuals with diabetes, or those who have recently undergone surgery should also get medical clearance before using cold therapy. In general, it's always a good idea to ease into cold tub use, starting with shorter sessions at moderate temperatures, and pay attention to your body's response.
How long should I stay in the cold tub?
It’s recommended to start with shorter sessions, around 3-5 minutes, and gradually work your way up to 10-15 minutes, depending on your tolerance and comfort level. If you feel your body start to shiver, you must exit the water immediately!
What is the ideal water temperature for cold water therapy?
The ideal temperature range for cold water therapy is typically between 36°F and 59°F. This range provides the most benefits while still being manageable for most users... The goal is to get your body to a shiver state within the desired timeframe, so adjust your temperature accordingly!
How often should I use the cold tub?
Frequency can vary based on your goals and recovery needs, but many people use their cold tub 3-5 times per week. For athletes or individuals looking for faster recovery, daily use is also common... or even multiple times a day!
Product-Specific FAQs
What sets Regen Cold Tubs apart from other cold tubs on the market?
Regen Cold Tubs are built with quality and durability top of mind. Our tubs are constructed with professional-grade components and undergo rigorous testing to ensure they meet the highest standards of excellence!
All ReGen tubs are built with a High Flow Rate and Oversized Components. Our tubs are built with the same components and plumbing that most underground pools are built with!
High Flow Rate helps provide a better user experience, as it breaks through your body's thermal barrier so you feel the true temperature of the water the entire time you are in the tub! This high flow rate also provide cleaner and clearer water, as our water is going through micron filtration every 3-5 minutes!!!
What temperature range does a ReGen get to?
Our Heavy Duty chiller lineup can be adjusted between 36° and 82°, giving you complete control over your cold plunging experience. Please note, our chillers will not heat the water.
How big is a ReGen tub?
The size and dimensions of our ReGen tubs depend on the model. We include full specifications on each model's product page, including size and dimensions.
What does the maintenance typically consist of?
Any cold tub on the market requires ongoing maintenance.
We have designed the ReGen tubs to be as easy to maintain as possible. On average, you should expect to spend about 10 minutes/month to properly maintain your tub.
We provide all of our customers will access to our Help Center, which has easy-to-follow articles and videos on all things setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Maintenance typically consists of:
-Filter Maintenance: Our micron filtration system catches contaminants down to 20 micron (smaller than the human eye can see). Over time, these contaminants will jam the filter up, reducing water flow in the tub and preventing the system from doing it's job. On average, our customers need to change their filters on the Core/OG every 6 weeks, and on the Blast every 8 weeks.
-Balancing the Water: Although equipped with UV Ozone (optional on Core model), we recommend balancing the pH and Chlorine levels in your tub. We recommend having a professional test and recommend what/how much chemical(s) to use.
-Chiller Maintenance: We recommend cleaning the chiller screens and vents on a monthly basis.
-Water changes: On average, our Residential customers change their water every 6 months or so. This varies based on how you use your tub.
What is the electrical requirements?
All of our tubs plug into a 120v GFCI outlet. The amount of amperage depends on the model you choose. Please review each product page to get the exact specs.
Can I place a ReGen tub inside or outdoors?
All of our tubs can be placed indoors or outdoors. If placed outdoors, we require the tub be placed somewhere that is not subject to flooding, as this could damage the components.
If placing the tub indoors in a basement or 2nd floor, remember that the tubs are quite heavy and may require a professional mover (especially for the Blast model).
How easy is it to change the water? How often should I drain the tub?
We have designed all of our tubs to drain in a matter of minutes. All of our tubs come with a plumbed hose-bib, so you can attach a garden hose and drain the tub to wherever you would like.
In residential settings, we typically recommend to drain the water at least every 6 months, however, this may be more frequent depending on how you use your tub.
In commercial settings or high usage environments, you will need to drain your tub much more frequently, depending on use.
To extend the time between water changes, we recommend rinsing off prior to entering the cold tub. Contaminants such as dirty, sweat, oil, lotions, etc will quickly contaminant the water and dirty the filter, which will require more frequent maintenance.
How energy efficient is a ReGen tub? What's the cost to run this?
We have designed all of our tubs to be very energy efficient. We utilize the highest quality foam insulation and all tubs include a well insulated cover. Please check the specs on our product pages for exact power consumption, but on average, you should expect about $0.60-$0.80/day worth of power consumption.
How fast does the water cool?
We offer 3 different chiller sizes, all of which have different chilling speeds.
-Light Duty 1/4hp chiller typically cools at ~2-4°/hour
-Heavy Duty 1/2hp chiller typically cools at ~5-7°/hour
-Heavy Duty 1hp chiller typically cools at 8-10°/hour
Chilling speed is very important, as it ensures your tub is at your desired temperature regardless of ambient temperatures or number of back-to-back uses.
Is there anything else I need if I purchase a ReGen tub?
No, your ReGen tub order will come with everything needed to operate your cold tub and ensure you have water that is always cold and clean!
We provide all of our customers with a Product Recommendation document, which gives some additional "nice-to-haves" recommendations for you to buy online directly from our suppliers.
